Deciphering Cuneiform to Get a Handle on Life in Ancient Mesopotamia

Cuneiform is the earliest known form of writing. It was invented by the Sumerians of ancient Mesopotamia sometime during the 4th millennium BC (between 3500 and 3000 BC). The script became unreadable as its use came to an end but everything changed when it was finally deciphered in the 19th Century.
