Jurchens (known also as the Nuzhen, 女真, in Chinese) were a federation of non-Chinese peoples who inhabited the northeastern part of China (known also as Manchuria), which corresponds to the modern Chinese provinces of Liaoning, Jilin, and Heilongjiang.
